Early Life:
Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21, 1980 to a Punjabi family of Randhir Kapoor and Babita in Mumbai. Both are renowned Bollywood personalities and have given many hits together. She has an elder sister Karishma Kapoor who is also an Actress.
She grew up idolizing Bollywood actresses Nargis and Meena Kumari and hence aspired to become an actress. She studied at Jamnabai Narsee School Mumbai and Welhams Girl Boarding School, Dehradun has done her Higher education in commerce steam from Mithibai College, Vile Parle, Mumbai.
She has also studied law but did not complete his course as she was more inclined towards making career in acting rather than academics. For this she joined an acting institute in Andheri under Kishore Namit Kapoor.
Bollywood Career:
Kareena Kapoor had her first breakthrough in Bollywood in J.P. Dutta’s Refugee in 2000 along with Abhishek Bachchan who was also making his debut as an actor. She played the role of a Pakistani girl who fell in love with a Refugee. The film did pretty well at the Box Office and Kareena Kapoor was critically acclaimed. Such was his charm and her portray in the movie that she won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Female.
Her second movie was opposite Tusshar Kapoor in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Kareena again won hearts with her grace. But her next few films didn’t garner any success but the epic movie Asoka with Shahrukh Khan gave her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination.
She then starred in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Nomination. But after that huge success came the dull period when she gave six flops in arrow including Mujhse Dosti Karoge alongside Hrithik Roshanand Main Prem ki Deewani Hun alongside Abhishek Bachchan.
She did her first serious film in Chameli directed by Sudhir Mishra and she reached the top of the world for her role as a prostitute. She received Filmfare special award for that film. She won her first award as Best Actress for Jab We Met in 2008 in which she played a Sikhni girl Geet from Bhatinda opposite Shahid Kapoor.
